Driven by curiosity – meet Rohith, Mechanical Designer at Blue Partner
With a passion for problem-solving and a mindset shaped by both engineering and creativity, Rohith has quickly found his place at Blue Partner. In his current assignment at IKEA, he combines precision with innovation – supporting digital product development through smart CAD solutions. We asked him to share more about his background, current role, and what drives him as a consultant.
Curious, motivated, and with a passion for both design and problem-solving – that’s how Rohith describes himself. As an engineer, he thrives on turning complex mechanical and digital challenges into practical, elegant solutions.
– Engineering is about finding simplicity in complexity while keeping creativity alive, he says.
Before joining Blue Partner, Rohith worked on a range of mechanical and product development projects – often in fast-moving environments that sharpened his ability to adapt and learn quickly. The opportunity at Blue Partner stood out thanks to its focus on flexibility, growth, and strong values – a natural match for his mindset.
What is your main area of expertise?
– My main expertise lies in 3D mechanical design, mechanics, product development, and CAD data management. I’ve built this expertise through hands-on experience with diverse projects involving rail systems, industrial equipment, and product design.
He adds that working closely with cross-functional teams has been key to understanding the balance required throughout the product lifecycle.
– That’s where I learned the importance of accuracy, collaboration, and design intent in every stage.
Rohith joined earlier this year, attracted by the company’s culture of trust, collaboration, and professional freedom. He values how Blue Partner combines technical excellence with personal growth, and appreciates the flexibility to shape his assignment, explore new ideas, and keep learning in a supportive environment.
Can you tell us a bit about your current assignment?
– Currently, I’m working at IKEA as a Digital 3D Developer, focusing on creating and reviewing 3D models, ensuring CAD quality, and preparing data for virtual product development. The role involves both mechanical CAD (MCAD) and mixed CAD challenges, where precision and collaboration are key. It’s exciting to contribute to a globally recognized brand that values design innovation and sustainability.
Rohith’s role includes maintaining CAD quality standards, reviewing design data, supporting the virtual product creation process, and ensuring smooth collaboration between design and engineering teams. Each day brings new challenges – from analyzing 3D models, ensuring design consistency and solving technical issues to keeping projects moving through close coordination with stakeholders.
– Each day brings something new to learn, which I really enjoy.
What’s the most exciting or challenging part of your project?
– What excites me most is working at the intersection of mechanical design, CAD and digital transformation, where detailed engineering meets modern virtual development. The challenge lies in maintaining precision and data consistency across design environments, but that’s also where the real satisfaction comes from. It’s rewarding to see how even small improvements in CAD quality can make a big difference downstream.
For Rohith, the most rewarding part of being a consultant is the variety. Each new project and challenge is an opportunity to grow, collaborate with different professionals, and explore new technologies.
– At Blue Partner, I especially value the balance of independence and support to take initiative, backed by a company that genuinely believes in your potential.
So, what advice would he give someone considering the consultant path?
– Be open, adaptable, and proactive. Consulting gives you a unique opportunity to learn fast, adapt and make an impact. Don’t hesitate to take on new challenges. Each challenge is a chance to expand your network, gain new insights, and shape your career in exciting directions.
